Chapter 01

Overview

Anschütz’s long-action centrefire hunting rifle, announced in March 2010 in .308 Win. with .30-06, 8×57 IS and 9.3×62 to follow. Sporting Shooter places it a couple of years after the 2009 .222/.223 sporter that was the company’s first new action in 30 years, and Rifle Magazine counts the later 1782 as its upgraded version.

Chapter 02

How it works

A two-row, six-lug bolt locks directly into the barrel for a short 60° throw, cocking on a cam, in a slab-sided receiver of high-strength aluminium alloy, matte black anodised, drilled and tapped and supplied with a Picatinny rail. It looks a little like the 1770, Sporting Shooter notes, but is an entirely different switch-barrel design; the .308 launch rifle had a single-stage trigger, a 22-inch barrel and a side safety at about 7.27 lb.
