Chapter 01

Overview

Haenel showed the Jaeger 10 bolt-action at the IWA in Nuremberg in 2010, two years after the Suhl company was refounded under its old name inside the Merkel group. Haenel has kept developing it since, and the reworked rifle is now sold as the Jaeger TEN.

Chapter 02

How it works

A cylinder bolt with a 60° lift — six-lug on Haenel’s 2012 description, three-lug on the Jaeger TEN — runs in a cold-forged receiver over a cold-hammer-forged Suhl barrel. The two-position safety acts on the trigger bar and lets the rifle be opened while safe, and the detachable magazine holds 3+1, or 2+1 in magnum.

Chapter 03

Variants

Timber with a grade-1 Monte Carlo stock, Timber LX in grade-4 walnut, a Lady stock, a 51 cm Compact and Timber Lady Compact for a suppressor, a fibreglass-reinforced Synthetic, and the Varmint and Varmint Sporter. The Jaeger TEN comes as the Composite with a synthetic stock and the Classic in wood, with a Picatinny rail milled into the receiver and a 4+1 magazine.

Chapter 04

In the field

Haenel pitches it at the high seat, the driven hunt and the stalk, with detachable i-Sight open sights over a threaded muzzle for a suppressor. Calibres ran from .223 Rem. through 6.5×55, 8×57IS and 9.3×62 to 7 mm Rem. Mag. and .300 Win. Mag.
