Chapter 01

Overview

Developed by a Sako team led by Kari Kuparinen and made at Riihimäki since 2003, the T3 was shown in the United States in November 2002 as the intended successor to the Sako 75. In 2016 the series was overhauled and renamed T3x.

Chapter 02

How it works

A two-lug bolt, a cold-hammer-forged free-floating barrel, and a single-stack detachable magazine of glass-reinforced polymer — four rounds as standard, with 3- to 6-round single-stack and 10-round double-stack options. The stock is Sako’s glass-reinforced polypropylene, built to shrug off changes in temperature and damp.

Chapter 03

Variants

Hunter, Lite, Battue, Compact, Camo, Forest, Sporter, Varmint, Tactical and TAC, in calibres from .204 Ruger to .338 Win Mag and 9.3×62. The T3x of 2016 added a larger ejection port, a steel recoil lug for the aluminium one and a metal bolt shroud — and its parts fit back onto the T3.

Chapter 04

In the field

A light, weatherproof rifle in every Nordic calibre that matters — .243 and 6.5×55 for roe, .308, .30-06 and 9.3×62 for moose. A used T3 Lite takes the T3x’s upgraded parts, which makes it a sensible first studsare.
