Chapter 01

Overview

Introduced in 2008, the A7 was Sako’s mid-price hunting rifle, built to fill the gap between the premium Model 85 and the cheaper Tikka T3 from the same factory. It borrows from both and adds ideas of its own.

Chapter 02

How it works

A push-feed bolt with three locking lugs and a 70° lift, in short (S) and long (M) receivers drilled and tapped for scope bases. The double-stack magazine can be loaded from the top while seated and is held by a locking lever Sako calls the Total Control Latch; the barrel floats free and the single-stage trigger adjusts from 500 to 2,000 grams.

Chapter 03

In the field

A synthetic-stocked working rifle, blued or stainless, chambered from .22-250 and .243 in the short action to .30-06 and .300 Win Mag in the long. The .30-06 is the one for moose, and the stainless finish suits a rifle that lives outdoors.
