Chapter 01
Overview
Sako has built rifles at Riihimäki since 1921, and the Model 85 of 2006 is the current expression of what a Finnish hunting rifle is meant to be: cold-hammer-forged, controlled-feed, and finished to a standard that makes the price argument for you or not at all.
Chapter 02
How it works
Six action sizes rather than the usual two, so a .222 does not carry a magnum’s steel. The claw extractor gives true controlled feed, the detachable magazine can also be topped up through the ejection port, and the integral dovetail on the receiver takes rings without a separate base.
Chapter 03
In the field
Built for the Nordic season and sold into it: moose from a stand, roe at last light, and enough action sizes that the same rifle family covers a fox rifle and a bear rifle without compromise at either end.
