Chapter 01
Overview
The D99 is Blaser’s drilling: two shotgun barrels and a rifle barrel on one action, which Blaser calls the best all-rounder for ground that holds both small and big game. Its own manual stresses that the design makes it very different from other three-barrelled guns.
Chapter 02
How it works
It locks with a strong vertical block and runs a double-lock system — two strikers and two springs — so a second shot follows without recocking. The barrels float freely within the bundle, so the point of impact holds through quick follow-up shots; it is proofed for steel shot, and like every Blaser combination gun it is cocked by hand just before the shot and decocks itself when opened.
Chapter 03
In the field
This is the drilling’s whole case: shot for whatever flushes or breaks cover close, a rifle barrel for the deer or boar that steps out further off, without changing guns. Steel-shot proofing keeps the shotgun barrels usable with non-lead loads, and the saddle mount carries a scope over the rifle barrel.
