Chapter 01

Overview

Heym’s Model 26 is a feather-light over-and-under double rifle — a Bockbüchse with two rifled barrels, not a rifle–shotgun combination — with manual cocking, open sights and Heym’s own quick-detach scope mount. In the United States it was sold as the 26B.

Chapter 02

How it works

The receiver is aluminium alloy with a steel insert at the face, the barrels are soldered together at 55 cm, and a double-lock system fires through a single trigger without a set trigger. Heym’s German model weighed 3.0 kg at 98 cm overall.

Chapter 03

In the field

Short, light and fitted with Heym’s Keiler sight, it was engraved with red deer on the left and wild boar on the right. Heym offered 7×57R, 7×65R, .30-06, .30R Blaser, 8×57IRS and 9.3×74R, and the US catalogue added .30-30 Win. and 8×57R.
