Chapter 01

Overview

Heym calls the 88B its flagship double rifle for dangerous game, a role it has held for more than 35 years, and says more professional hunters in Africa carry Heym doubles than any other make. It is a side-by-side, stocked to the customer’s measurements.

Chapter 02

How it works

A modified Anson & Deeley boxlock with triple lock-up — a Purdey double underbite and a Greener crossbolt — intercepting sears, automatic ejectors and an articulated front trigger. The barrels are hammer-forged in-house and joined by the shoe-lump method, and Heym guarantees under 2 inches at 50 metres, each barrel printing to its own side rather than crossing.

Chapter 03

Variants

The 88B is scaled in five frame sizes, and Heym USA has listed the 88B, 88B Sidelock, 88B PH, 88B Safari, 88B Safari Sidelock and 88B Jumbo. Calibres run from 7×65R, 8×57IRS and 9.3×74R on the smaller frame to .470 NE, .500 NE and .577 NE on the Safari.

Chapter 04

In the field

The Safari doubles are built for dangerous game in Africa, and an optional ejector/extractor switch in the forend allows a silent reload. Claw mounts let the scope come off for the open sights and go back on at zero.
