Chapter 01

Overview

Krieghoff presented the Classic double rifle at the IWA in 1993, a year after it registered patents for the combi cocking device and the Universal Trigger System at the gun’s heart. It is a side-by-side from Ulm, where the family restarted gunmaking after the war.

Chapter 02

How it works

A steel receiver with the Combi-Cocking Device, the Universal Trigger System and a set trigger in the front trigger, plus Krieghoff’s Intelligent Ejector System: with the cocking slide forward the fired case is thrown out, with it back the case is only lifted for a silent reload. The standard rifle has 60 cm barrels (55 cm optional), a Bavarian cheekpiece, weighs about 3.3–3.7 kg and comes prepared for a pivot bridge mount.

Chapter 03

Variants

The Side-by-Side Double Rifle in 7×57R, 7×65R, .308 Win., .30-06, .30R Blaser, 8×57IRS and 9.3×74R; the “Big Five” in .375 H&H, .450/.400 NE, .500/.416 NE, .470 NE and .500 NE at 4.2–4.8 kg; and the same action as a side-by-side shotgun and a rifle–shotgun combination. Interchangeable barrel sets, the shotgun and combination ones in 20/76, let one Classic switch between those roles.

Chapter 04

In the field

Krieghoff’s own films show the standard double through a German season on roe deer and the Big Five on moose and caribou in Canada’s Northwest Territories and on buffalo in the African rainforest. A pivot bridge ring mount for driven-hunt scopes is on the options list, and the extract setting allows a silent reload.
